Teleport to Sandgem, go west to route 201, then south to Twinleaf Town. Mom is in your house there.
You will have a conversation with her explaining how to get in Hoenn. She'll give the ticket required to travel to Hoenn.
Quest 1.b: Journey to Littleroot
Following your family's decision, prepare for a new chapter in Hoenn. Gather your belongings and set sail for Littleroot Town via Snowpoint.
Look around Littleroot Town. If you really have no clue what to do next or didn't find the next trigger by looking around, follow the steps in below spoiler.
Instead of finding Birch, you will find May giving you the next quest.
She is located in one of the houses in Littleroot Town (Birch's house).
Quest 3: Follow May
Professor Birch was not in his house and is currently trying to catch a Pokemon. Follow May who is going after Birch to help him catch a Pokemon.
As will often be the case, quest tracker fully explains the quest.
Go leave Littleroot Town northwards. May will be north of Oldale Town ready to battle you.
TIP: At this point, you will already have some decent ev spots available in Hoenn if you prefer to do EV training in Hoenn. Check spawnguide for full details.
Quest 6: Meet May in Rustboro
May has left towards Rustboro City for her First Gym Badge. Follow her towards Gym 1.
When entering Petalburg City, May will tell you to go talk to your dad in the gym, making this quest show up. You won't be able to continue towards Rustboro before finishing these quests.
Dad will give you the next quest after/during that talk.
This is the original game's way of explaining how to catch a pokemon. We kept this quest to introduce Wally, but similar to Birch & picking your starter earlier, the battle won't actually happen.
Route 102 is the route before Petalburg, so east of Petalburg City.
Dad sends us back on track to Rustboro. Follow the route west, then go north through Petalburg Woods.
In Petalburg Woods, you get a first glance at some of the enemy team members. You will also be saving the devon researcher for the first time. He'll give some rewards.
After the woods, just keep finding your way north to Rustboro City. May will be waiting here for you and give the next quest.
Quest 7: Get your 1st Gym Badge
The first gym is located in Rustboro City. Defeat the Gym Leader and get your first badge in Hoenn.
Upon leaving the gym, you will once again see the Devon Researcher requiring help. Team Magma Grunt ran off with the Devon Parts. You'll find him in Rustturf Tunnel (east of Rustboro).
On your way there, you will meet the GOAT of Hoenn Mr. Briney. He'll give you Quest 9.
Beat the Grunt to get the Devon Parts and quest 10 & 11 (and the Peeko Ball for quest 11)
Quest 9: Retrieve Peeko Ball
The Magma Grunt stole Mr. Briney's Wingull. Retrieve it.
The same Grunt that stole the Devon Parts, kidnapped Peeko from Mr. Briney, go beat him in Rustturf Tunnel.
The quest tracker will look as follows after beating that grunt:
Quest 10 & 11: Return Devon Parts to Researcher & Peeko Ball to Mr. Briney
Return the Devon Parts to the Devon Corp Researcher who is waiting for you in Rustboro City.
Sometimes when it looks straightforward and easy, it really is. Talk to the NPC's mentioned to return those items.
Talking with the Researcher (and returning the parts) will give you the next quest.
Quest 12: Meet Devon Corp's President
Devon Researcher wants you to meet Devon Corp's President. Give him a visit inside Devon Corp in Rustboro City.
Tracker text
Devon Corp building is the big building in Rustboro, President is on the top floor.
The next quests show up after that talk:
Quest 13: Deliver Mr Stone's Letter to Steve
Devon Corp's president Mr. Stone has trusted you with a letter for Steve in Dewford Town. Deliver the letter to him in Dewford. You can travel to Dewford with the help of Mr. Briney who lives in a cottage in route 104.
Just walking out of Devon Corp. will make you finish this quest. May will tell you about Mr. Briney's ferrying from route 104, again a shout out to Mr. Briney's quest to return Peeko.
She will also tell you to get your second badge in Dewford Town.
Quest 13.b: Get your 2nd Gym Badge
The second gym is located in Dewford Town. Defeat the Gym Leader and get your second badge before May.
After getting Briney's quest to give the Devon Parts to Mr. Stone, talk with him to let him ferry you to Route 109.
Once there, you just need to go up in the city. The shipyard is the building top right. However, Stern isn't there, you'll have to talk with the NPC named Dock.
He'll say Stern is in the Oceanic Museum.
Quest 16: Deliver Devon Parts to Stern
Find Stern in Oceanic Museum and deliver him the Devon Parts.
The Oceanic Museum is the building south of the shipyard. It was blocked off by Team Magma grunts before you talked with Dock.
Stern is being held captive on the second floor by Team Magma, you'll have to defeat 2 grunts & meet Maxie afterwards.
After that, you can give the Devon Parts to Stern by talking with him.
Quest 17: Explore route 110
Now that you have delivered the Devon parts, explore Route 110 (north of Slateport City) to find what's next.
After overhearing the Team Magma grunts, you must continue northward.
The Bike bridge requires an upgraded bicycle. You'll get that later in the story. For now you must use the land route on the left of the bridge. Once on a T-crossing, you can pass under the bike bridge to continue going north.
At that point you'll need to beat May. This won't change your quest objectives.
Once in the gateway to New Mauville, you'll have an unnamed NPC running south. When entering New Mauville, Wattson will be there to give you the next quest.
Quest 19: Mystery in Mauville
First, a peculiar girl piques your curiosity; then an elderly man... Something seems amiss. Follow the elderly man to uncover what's going on.
Going back to route 110 to the south, you'll see Wattson near the north entrance of the bike bridge.
Talking to him will give the next quest.
Quest 20: Upgrade your Bike
Armed with a bike from Sinnoh, you find it incompatible with Hoenn's landscape. Gyme Leader suggests seeking Rydel's expertise for an upgrade in Mauville. Enhance your bike and chase down the badge thief.
Now the guards will let you enter the bicycle bridge if you have your bicycle equipped, the thief will be standing on the bridge. Defeat her to get back the Badge Case.
Quest 22: Return the Stolen Badge Case
Having recovered the Badge Case, return it to Wattson at Mauville City to restore order.
Lot's of warps in the gym, but it's not a maze, just have to take every one to reach Wattson.
Placeholder
You'll notice you won't have any quests after beating him and getting your badge. Once you leave the gym, you'll need to find the Mayor of Mauville for your next quest.
Quest 24: Power Struggle in New Mauville
Investigate the failing generator in New Mauville powerplant, and find the Generator Battery to restor power. The powerplant is located on the east of Route 110.
The quest tracker pretty much says everything you have to do:
Go back down to Route 110
Go through the house for the bike bridge
Instead of going on the bridge, take the path next to it towards the Powerplant.
Find your way north through the powerplant towards the Generator.
The Generator Battery is found in the room close to the room of the Generator. (visible as an Ultra Ball)
Talk to the Generator to restore the power.
NOTE: Magnemites like to trap people on the generator. Try to talk on the bottom side of the generator. If they did end up trapping you, use crew's TP to cw lobby button or ask in chat if moderators are online or tag moderator roles in the discord. We will help you as soon as we can.
Once installed, you won't have any quests, however it does make sense to return to the Mayor at the north exit of Mauville.
That still won't give you a quest to encourage exploring. However, the next quest is easily found leaving Mauville through the Northern exit.
This is another quest that will stick around for some time. On your way towards Mt. Chimney, you will meet May who gives you the next quest.
NOTE: You don't have the Go-Goggles for Hoenn yet. So you have to go west (left) instead of north from Route 111.
NOTE 2: There's a house on this route that might give some repeatable cash. Let this be a tip to make you talk with NPC's around Hoenn often.
Quest 25a: Who is Cozmo?
May is visiting Professor Cozmo in Fallarbor Town, sneak up on her to find out what she is upto!
PTSD from Jvaloh might have made you freak out when May jumped you after a map change, but they healed you . They also gave this quest which basicly is to keep going the only road you can (Team Magma will be blocking off the cable car).
Going through Fiery Path & the next few routes towards Fallarbor Town, you'll meet May some more.
Quest 25b: Follow May to meet Prof. Cozmo
May is going to meet Professor Cozmo to find out more about an ancient meteorite. Follow her and learn about it.
To lead you back the correct way, the game sends us back to Cozmo. Talk with him in his house.
NOTE: The Curious Kid quest transformed into the next quest before talking to Cozmo already.
Quest 26: Check out Mt. Chimney
Team Magma Grunst have stolen the Meteorite from Professor Cozmo and taken it to Mt. Chimney. Head back to Route 112 and take the cable car up to Mt. Chimney to retrieve it.
Fully upholding pokemon's tradition of taking matters into own hands instead of calling the police, you now have to head up Mt. Chimney as specified in the tracker message. Team Magma is no longer blocking the cable car.
Once there, you need to beet a few grunts, Tabitha & Maxie to retrieve the Meteorite.
Quest 27: Heat Badge
Now that you have retrieved the meteorite and have grown stronger as a trainer it is time to get your 4th Gym Badge. According to May the 4th [Star Wars ] Gym is in Lavaridge Town which is on the west of Route 112 which can be reached via Jagged Pass from the south of Mt. Chimney Peak.
The quest tracker message fully explains the next quests.
Once in Fallarbor (and having healed ofcourse) you need to beat a lot of trainers in the Fire Gym. Eventually leading to the leader. Permanent sun in this gym makes it a pretty though one.
(have still yet to confirm which teams we used)
Once you got the 4th badge, you get your next main quest. BUT this is also the point in the story where you unlock the sidequest for mining when walking out of the gym. I highly suggest following those steps explained in the mining guide before continuing your main story if planning to play the game more.
Petalburg City is one of the earliest cities in Hoenn. Before you can actually challenge the gym however, the Vigoroth Clan require you to proof your ability.
Quest 28a: Vigoroth's Test of Strength
Catch and evolve three Slakoth into Vigoroth to prove your strength and earn the right to challenge the fifth Hoenn Gym.
Slakoth can be caught on the route to the east of Petalburg City.
You have to collect 3 of them, and train them to lvl 35 (and in the meantime let them evolve into Vigoroth).
NOTE 1: The highest level you can train on are in the desert Route 111. Unlocked because you gained the Go-Goggles Hoenn earlier from May.
NOTE 2: Don't evolve him into Slaking at lvl 36, you can cancel the evolution if you did level up too much.
Once you have them, talk to the NPC blocking your way into the gym (don't just try to enter, talk to the NPC).
He will consider you worthy if you have the 3 lvl 35 Vigoroth's in your party.
NOTE 1: Those Vigoroths are not allowed to be holding items. The NPC will not notice them if they are holding items.
NOTE 2: The Vigoroths will remain in your party, you will not need them to be in your party to challenge the gym & the trainers there.
Quest 28b: Daddy's Gym
Get your 5th Gym badge by defeating your dad in Petalburg City.
Now you can actually clear the gym. You need to defeat all the trainers before Norman (your dad) will accept your challenge.
...
Upon beating him, the next quest is given. However, you should just walk out of the gym! Teleporting to cw lobby using the crew skill will cause you being 'stuck'.
Quest 29: Head Towards Route 118
With your 5th Badge in hand, journey east from Mauville City to Route 118 as you pursue your 6th Gym Badge.
As mentioned in previous quest, this quest is pretty redundant, when leaving the Petalburg Gym, Wally has a talk with you. This is the important trigger to make your trip to Route 118 (or rather Mauville, since the route is east of Mauville) not in vain.
If you did that, Mr. Briney will be in Mauville, near the exit towards Route 118. He will give you the next quest.
Quest 30: Recover Peeko and the Stolen Ship
Team Aqua has struck again, this time taking the beloved Peeko along with a treasured ship. Head to Route 104 by the edge of the woods to assist in the search.
Funnily enough, after teleporting to Mauville in the previous quest, Mr. Briney sends you back to Petalburg City. That is the closest teleport to Route 104 where he will be waiting for your help.
You talk with Mr. Briney who will be on the beach on Route 104.
Quest 31: Chase Team Aqua
Mr. Briney told us that Team Aqua left south of Route 104, find and retrieve the ship and Peeko from the grunts.
Having stolen Mr. Briney's ship & beloved Peeko, team aqua ran off to the south surfing in the direction of Dewford.
You will find a Team Aqua grunt on a Gastrodon Surf Mount, after beating him, you learn that he doesnt have Peeko nor the Ship.
IMAGE Quest 32: Chase The Ship Heist Mastermind
You've defeated one of the grunts, but the mastermind has escaped with the ship and Peeko. Chase after him, defeat him, and retrieve Peeko and the Ship.
If you prefer exploring, just keep surfing in that area of Hoenn. You will find another Team Aqua grunt on the water.
If you prefer to know the exact location (or atleast map) you can open below spoiler:
Surfing east (right) from Dewford, the mastermind is already 2 maps away from Dewford. So Route 108.
IMAGE Quest 32: Visit Mr. Briney
Check back on Mr. Briney to see whether the ship was delivered to him or not and Peeko came back or not.
This quest will stick around for a while. Other quests below will happen on the way to Fortree City.
Among other things, you will meet Steven again who needs your help. Even though the game allows you to decline, you won't be able to go further before helping him.
After agreeing & walking couple steps after getting warped to a different map. You'll get the next quest.
Quest 34a: Checkout Southern Island
Something strange is going on inside Southern Island. Steve has asked you for your help. Check the northern part of Southern Island for anomalies.
Steven needs your help on Southern Island, just keep going up until Steven (or Steve in quest tracker ) shows up again.
The quest won't change, you keep going up still, gawk at latios/latias (optional) & talk to Courtney.
She will want to fight, after defeating her, this quest is finished.
To get back to regular Hoenn, talk with Steven. He will first give you the Mega Bracelet, then move to the south to function as your teleporter/map changer.
NOTE: this map is not reachable later, so enjoy the views .
Continuing your way north towards Fortree, you stumble upon the Weather Institute where the road forward is blocked, so you need to defeat all Team Magma Grunts & Tabitha inside the Institute to get your next quest.
Quest 34b: What Happened in Weather Institute
Find out what happened in weather institute by speaking to people inside the institute.
Now that you helped Steven & saved the Weather Institute, all that's blocking you from entering Fortree City is May. She will challenge you to a battle.
Ofcourse, upholding Hoenn's story line. Even after all that, the gym isn't free to challenge yet. Something invisible is blocking the way.
Find Steven on the far side of Fortree City.
Quest 34c: Follow Steven
Follow Steven to Route 120 and find out what he is investigating.
Most of the NPC's won't challenge you on Route 120 (east/right of Fortree City), however it is a very good money & experience source. Steven will be around halfway down Route 120.
Quest 34: Get your 6th Gym Badge
Continue your journey via Route 118 and get your 6th Gym Badge.
Even though the quest tells you to go to Mt. Pyre, I suggest going to pokecenter in Lilycove first. That way you don't have to run as far if you faint.
Mt. Pyre is the small island mountain south of Route 121. Inside several trainers wait for you. When nearing the peak, you'll be battling Team Magma grunts aswell.
At the eventual peak (outside of the building), you'll battle Maxie again. He will run off with the Red Orb. The grandma will give you the Blue Orb.
Quest 37: Retrieve the Red Orb
Team Magma has stolen the Red Orb and are headed towards Slateport City. Get to Slateport and retrieve the Red Orb.
When entering Slateport City, you'll see an interviewer & Stern in front of the Shipyard.
After getting in close, the interviewer will leave, clearing the way for you to talk to Stern.
Quest 38: Follow Stern
It looks like someone stole Captain Stern's submarines. Follow him and help him inside the Shipyard.
Team Magma's hideout is in Lilycove. Having said yes to Stern in the previous quest, you were warped here for free.
The hideout is located behind the waterfall top right of Lilycove.
Lots of Grunts & some admins are waiting to get whited out by you including Courtney. Sadly (spoilers!) you will be just too late. They will have left the hideout towards wherever they are going.
NOTE: If you didn't challenge her before in this city, May will be waiting for another battle in Lilycove.
Another quest who will stay in tracker for a while.
To stop, you first need to be able to Dive.
To be able to dive, you need the Dive HM and the 7th badge from Mossdeep.
Quest 40a: Get your 7th Gym Badge
7th Gym is located in Mossdeep City on the east coast of Lilycove. Go get your 7th Gym Badge!
Mossdeep is located east of Lilycove: Lilycove --> Route 124 --> Mossdeep
Currently, we don't support double battles, so the gym will just be singles (unlike original Hoenn).
The gym has a nasty maze (and a less nasty one). I'll put several spoilers with increasing tips on how to find your way.
The maze is not just trial and error, try to look for clues on the map layout.
To know better where you are, you can use some game mechanics. I will put the game mechanics as the next tips.
Emotes! You can click yourself, choose the smiley & choose an emote that will appear over your head. That way, you can see where you are at all times.
Zoom scale! Zooming in allows your screen to move around with you more giving a better idea where you are.
Greedy trap The actual route will not be on official guides. If you clicked third tip first, I higly suggest trying the other tips, those are actual tips.
After defeating Tate, don't warp to cw lobby, quest tracker...
Quest 40b: Checkout Mossdeep City
There is some sort of noise coming from outside of the Gym in Mossdeep City. Step outside the gym and have a look around.
Steven's house is on the left of the pokemon gym in Mossdeep City (far left).
Quest 41: Stop Team Magma
Get to Route 128 and use dive to get to Seafloor Cavern to stop Team Magma from reviving the super-ancient Pokemon. Route 128 is located on the south of Mossdeep City.
This quest replaced Stop Maxie quest (quest 40) since you now have the information where to go.
You need to surf south from Mossdeep to Route 128 (2 maps down) & dive there (on the darker coloured water, press space/tap screen/use dive hm from quickwheel). You'll find the entrance to Seafloor Cavern there.
Inside the Cavern, you'll meet a few Magma Grunts. At the end, you'll find Maxie & Archie arguing in front of a dormant Groudon (waking up soonTM).
If you are very lazy, you can follow the steps in below list to find the shortest way through Seafloor Cavern.
Dive route 128 -> enter cave -> enter cave -> left gateway -> right gateway -> left gateway -> right gateway -> up (only 1 exit) -> up (only 1 exit) -> Maxie
After beating Maxie, Groudon will primal revert into primal groudon & leave the cave.
Quest 42: Meet Maxie and Archie
Get out of the Seafloor Cavern and meet Archie and Maxie on the seafloor of route 128.
