Inside pokecenters, you open the Storage System
From there you can release pokemon by dragging them from the storage system to the Red garbage bin.
When you have caught a pokemon, you can also check it's stats in the chat bottom right. If the pokemon is sent to the storage system, you can also click that line of text in chat & choose 'Release' to release. There will be a pop-up captcha to make sure there are no missclicks.
