Mining
How to start?
What is mining (in PBO)?
You mine ores to get rewards (tap space bar/screen several times near the ores).
These ores are located in mining sites. We have 8 mining sites, unlocked as your mining level increases.
Early on, you have quite a big chance of failing. This can be avoided by increasing your mining level & the quality of your pickaxe.
Ores have seperate rarities going from common to legendary (the famous 'Dark Ores', Rainbows are the UR variant) with the higher the rarity, the higher odds for higher tiered rewards. With higher rarity, comes also higher chance of failing, higher amount of (mining) taps needed and the satisfaction of finally seeing a good ore (much like pokemon hunting )
How mining works is fully shown in the Mining Toolpad:
Site names all (except one) have the route where they are located in the name.
Cooldown
This can be a little tricky to understand.
Cooldowns are linked to the mining site.
Example:
You start the mining site at 3 PM 1st of August:
On top of that, the attempts can be 'stacked'. Many people start their daily cycle at a given time & do something else, then 16-17 hours later, they mine the site 3 times in a row (mining it clear fully, leaving the site & reentering for the next attempts).
Fossils
One of the main (or at least new) rewards for mining are the fossils.
These can be exchanged for pokemon boxes with the Fossil Maniac found near Fallarbor.
Most fossils are 1 on 1 traded with pokemon:
Only 4 require 2 fossils
Pickaxes
Mentioned before, you can get higher tiered pickaxes. These are made in a house near the desert mining site. The npc's there tell you what you need. If you don't know some of the items, you can ask about them in chat. It's an mmo after all, we do like communication ingame.
