Mining
How to start?
What is mining (in PBO)?
You mine ores to get rewards (tap space bar/screen several times near the ores). The rewards range from 100 F/Potion to Fossils & other unique items.
These ores are located in mining sites.
We have 8 general mining sites, unlocked as your mining level increases.
Seasonal Mining Sites have explanation on the Seasonal Guide (if applicable).
An additional Mining Site is available for players in the crew that won the latest Crew War, gaining access to Invictus Isle.
Early on, you have quite a big chance of failing. This can be avoided by increasing your mining level & the quality of your pickaxe.
Ores have separate rarities going from common to legendary (the famous 'Dark Ores' = Legendary, Rainbows are the UR variant). The higher the rarity, the higher odds for higher tiered rewards.
With higher rarity, comes also higher chance of failing, higher amount of (mining) taps needed and the satisfaction of finally seeing a good ore (much like pokemon hunting
).
Mining UI
Click the button (shown above) top right of your screen (if you didn't move that panel somewhere else) to open the Mining UI.
The UI is largely cut in 3/4 areas:
Experience Bar
Shows:
Titles
Titles or badges are given as a part of the UI depending on your level. See below spoiler for all current titles.
Tabs
The Mining UI has 4 Tabs:
Each of these will be discussed more in the next titles.
Mining Sites
This tab is the main used tab.
Here you find all (unlocked) Mining Sites on the left.
Showing Name (usually hints to Location), Availability & Mining Progress (fx 23/23 = no ore was mined yet).
Clicking one of the mining sites on the left, changes the right portion to show the info about that mining site in more detail as shown on the image below.
Showing Progress more clearly, when you started the attempt, which of maximum 3 daily attempts it is, the Site's State & the Cooldown Timer.
Cooldown/Attempts
Cooldowns are linked to the mining site.
Every day, every site is available to be mined twice from the moment you start your first attempt.
A third attempt can get unlocked 6 hours after you started your first attempt.
However, if the daily reset (midnight UTC) comes before those 6 hours, it is instead reset to the daily 2 mining attempts again.
Example:
Site Attempt Started 11:08 PM ---- Site Attempt 2
If I had finished that attempt, the UI will be saying Cooldown Timer 5 hours (rounded down time untill last hour for the 3rd attempt) .
Daily reset comes first however. So instead, the UI will reset to empty Attempt Started --- Site Attempt. Meaning I can again start the cycle again once it's midnight (52 minutes after starting the attempt).
Prospector Focus
This is only really applicable once you have unlocked a certain skill tree in the Mining Skills. This will be explained in that part of the guide.
Milestones
An overview of all extra items/things you unlock.
NOTE: Groudon Access means you can from that point on, buy & use the tickets needed to go to Infernal Sanctum. This map will be explained later in the guide.
Tools
In this Tab, you can equip/change your equipped Pickaxe and Pickaxe Skins. Clicking the button will open a small UI with a dropdown menu with all your unlocked/owned options.
Pickaxes are Crafted.
Skins are collected/bought through Seasonal Events and/or Donator Store.
Auto-Pickaxe
This tab also is the place to enable or disable the Auto-Pickaxe mode.
This mode allows players to mine by clicking once on an Ore, instead of clicking multiple times.
Using the mode will make the progress on the Ore become automatic albeit a little slower than manually clicking several times.
Fossils
Fossils are uniquely found while Mining.
These can be exchanged for pokemon boxes with the Fossil Maniac found near Fallarbor Town (Left).
Most fossils are 1 on 1 traded with pokemon:
Only 4 require 2 fossils
Origin Ore
Origin Ores are mini-games.
The chance of it triggering is very rare, but it increases every time you do not get the mini-game; A kind of luck protection.
There are 2 kinds of mini-games, both revolve around timing. They will be explained on the UI for the mini-game (opens when triggered).
The difficulty of your mini-game is randomly selected & your reward depends on your performance on the mini-game.
Mining Skills
Mining Skills are found in a different UI in the top Right Panel (if you didn't move it). The image is shown beside the title.
You get skill points, that you can allocate in the player skills UI to several options, by levelling up your mining level:
1 skill point every 5 levels (until level 100) + an additional skill point at levels 60, 70, 80, 90 & 100 = 25 skill points total.
After level 100 no extra skill points can be earned.
This means you can NOT unlock every mining skill (at the same time)
Options to allocate skill points include:
After that reset, every reset will cost 500 Gems.
All of the skills are explained clearly in-game.
NOTE: Prospector Focus Skill tree are the Skills you need to unlock before you can use the Mining's "Prospector Focus" tab.
These Focusses can only be changed once daily.
Blueprint Guru
Blueprint Guru sells the Blueprints you need to craft Mining Pickaxes.
He's located in the house at the Route 111 (Desert) Mining Site Pass
Once you are Mining Level 150, he will also be selling the Infernal Sanctum Tickets.
The Pickaxe Forgers are a relic from when we didn't have crafting.
Groudon / Infernal Sanctum
Groudon is added as a 24/7 legendary rarity spawn in the Infernal Sanctum. A safari like map that you can enter for 1/8/24 hour(s) after using a ticket.
These tickets can be bought at Blue Print Guru (inside the house on Route 111 (Desert) Mining Site Pass) for 7.5K/50K/150K after you reached mining level 150 (reaching this level triggers quest in quest tracker).
