Frequently Asked Questions
Links will work once all guides have been revamped
1. Why can't I teach Rock Smash (or other HM's) to my pokemon?
Since this game is gen 8+. You can't use HM's to teach moves to pokemon. Instead, each of the HM's have a TM to teach it to your pokemon.

However, you don't need 'HM slaves' anymore starting from gen 8. You can use the HM's outside of battle once you have the HM & the required badge.
Once you have Surf and badge 5, you automatically start surfing when running against the water's edge.
The other HM's are a mere click away when you are next to a spot where you need it. Spacebar, clicking screen or tapping screen on mobile is enough to trigger them.

Other than that, you can also go old school & use the quick assign wheel by tapping yourself & choose the correct picture. Those also have a hotkey you can assing in settings.

2. How do I run?
After giving the parcel to barry, mom should give you the running shoes. Equip those from bag to run faster.
Note: Bike, mount and running shoes all go equally fast.

If you are still moving slow, try disabling some settings like dynamic lighting, weather & particles effect and other players. I also noticed running shoes giving a little less performance issues for low end devices compared to the bike.

3. Where do I get a bike?
You get the bike by following the story/quest tracker top right.
After getting your second badge, you also gain HM cut, with that you can save the bike shop owner from team galactic north of the Eterna pokecenter.
Once you saved him, talk to him in his shop and you will get a bike (to cross the bike bridge to the south).

However, you most likely asking this because you are stuck after first badge. You don't have to go up the bike slope using a bike. You have to go back to the left towards Jubilife. On your way, you'll get rock smash & you can use that HM to clear the path north of Jubilife.

4. Are there trade restrictions? / When can I trade?
This game uses a level cap depending on how many badges you own for trading AND buying from trade house.
The level cap is calculated as follows: 5+7*Badges of the region
This means, if you have 0 badges, you can trade/buy up to level 5 (5+7*0=5). If you have 5, it will be capped at 40 (5+7*5=40).
When defeating the E4 and become champion of a region, the trade restrictions are lifted for that region and you can trade/buy up to lvl 100.

Note: it's badges of the region, when you have 5 Sinnoh badges, you'll still only be able to buy up to level 5 Jvaloh pokemon. These Jvaloh pokemon won't gain experience in Sinnoh before you are Jvaloh champion, so be sure you want to buy the pokemon you are buying. Same goes for any future regions.

5. How can I know what rarity a pokemon is?
A. Before catching/encountering: you can check the spawn guides on the forum: Sinnoh spawns, Jvaloh spawns, Hoenn spawns. Events will have a spawnlist aswell. These spawn lists also show what ev yield they have and how to encounter them.

B. After catching: Just after catching, a sprite shows up bottom right that you can click to see the stats (or from clicking when its in your pokebox). There is also a ribbon on the bottom left to indicate rarity. Hovering over that shows what rarity it is.
When you click it while its in team, the ribbon will be top right.
The ribbons:

From left to right: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare, Ultra Rare, Legendary.

6. How / Why do I find chests / Dragon Balls / Items
[SYS] MushroomCult found a Silver Blaze Chest.
These are hidden invisible items scattered around the map. They are supposed to only drop on outside maps including caves. When you find one, you were lucky enough to walk on the correct tile. They despawn after 48 hours.

Blaze chests and Dragon Balls are automatically dropped by server every few hours. Other items are either from a player using an item bomb or Snakes (developer) hiding special decorations/gem packs/... or using a Map bomb (similar to item bomb, but only drops on the map where its used)

7. What can I do with Dragon Balls?
Dragon Balls are a currency for a shop in Solaceon Town (jump off the furthest ledges in the town & enter the cave). Price range is 7 to 21 dragonballs to buy something.

8. How can I make my Pokemon follow me?
Enable 'Show Following poke' in settings
When running/on bike/on mount, your following poke is slower than you :)

9. How do I show my pokemon in chat?
To show 1 pokemon only, you drag the pokemon to the chat screen where the chat appears (not the part where you type). This can be done from team top left or from pokebox.

To show entire team at once, you type /team. This is preferred when wanting to show multiple pokemon as to not spam the chat.

10. What does C, UC, R, VR, UR, L/Leg mean?
The letters stand for the rarity of a pokemon. C -> Common, U -> Uncommon, R -> Rare, VR -> Very Rare, UR -> Ultra Rare and L/Leg ->Legendary.

11. What does 'Random' / 'OU' / 'Ranked' mean?
These are messages player say in chat to let people know they are looking for matches in that PVP tier.
  • Random => player is looking for ranked matches in randoms tier
  • OU => player is looking for ranked matches in OverUsed tier
  • Ranked => player is looking for ranked matches in any tier (most likely OverUsed, since Randoms was added later)
More info on PVP here

11. What are lures?
A lure is an item that boosts the encounter rate of rare and higher rarity pokemon on a map for the whole server for a duration of 1 hour.
They can get stacked to up to 3 times. 1 lure gives 25% increase of rate, 2 lures give 50%, a full triple stack gives 100% increase in rate (so doubles the chance, working like a full luck protection (see next question))
[SYS] A Lure has been used by Saiki on Iron Island B1F L.

=> lures ui button top right, to check where, for how long & how many lures are active at this moment
You can get lures from:

Using a lure from bag, uses it on the map you are currently standing on. Using lures also give 10 Goodwill points each.

12. What is luck protection & how does it work?
Luck protection is a feature helping players to get Ultra Rare or Legendary pokemon.

What does it do?
Once activated (past 100% mark), it doubles the encounter rate for the rarity.

How to increase the %?
By encountering pokemon on a map with the rarity available, the luck protection increases. Fainting doubles the progress in the luck protection.
  • Ultra Rare pokemon need 3000 encounters/1500 faints to be filled up
  • Legendary pokemon need 30.000 encounters / 15.000 faints to get activated (numbers not 100% sure, am double checking)
The progress gets reset to 0 once encountering an ultra rare (for ur lp) or a legendary (for leg lp) pokemon.

13. What can I do with Dyna Ore / Crew War Tokens / Blaze Coins / Dragon Balls / ...
All shops & their locations are shown in the Items & Shops topic.
