Collect Frost Shards (main event currency) by fainting common & uncommon pokemon.
Rare pokemon will have a chance to drop Bronze Christmas Chests.
Very Rare pokemon will have a chance to drop Silver Christmas Chests.
Ultra Rare pokemon will have a chance to drop Gold Christmas Chests.
Legendary pokemon will have a chance to drop 2 Gold Christmas Chests.
The story will allow you to progress through the maps & eventually unlock the Grinch Boss.
Start
The start is reaching the Christmas Event.
In Sandgem Town (Sinnoh), there will be a penguin NPC beside the regular Teleporter NPC. It will teleport you to the first Halloween map.
Opening Monologue
Mayor of Crystal Peak Town will be asking for your help investigating a weird phenomenon that is keeping people from reaching other areas.
A Mysterious Chill in the Air
Speak with the Town Mayor in CrystalPeak Town after investigating the mysterious chills that have enveloped the area.
Investigating the chills is just running towards the other maps. You will be stopped from entering them by a message saying something like: "a mysterious fog is blocking your way".
After walking north, east & west, go back to the mayor to trigger the next quest. The Mayor's house is the top left one in CrystalPeak Town.
Chasing the Chills
The Mayor has summoned the local scientist to assist with the investigation. Locate and converse with him at the CrystalPeak PokeCenter.
Despite the mist's disappearance, the holiday spirit hasn't returned to the town. Locate and converse with Santa to understand the reason behind this persistent gloom.
Santa is located on the map to the West of Crystal peak. So walk/run/ride/fly left & talk with Santa in his house.
Track Down the Grinch
Embark on a quest to locate the Grinch by following his distinctive footprints, which are the only evidence of his presence in and around CrystalPeak Town.
Follow the tracks going East of CrystalPeak Town. So go to the right.
It will lead you up the mountain, ending in Grinch's Lair.
Once on Mt. CrystalPeak Foothills, go up the mountain.
Climb the mountain (through the fog tiles) to end up:
Face the Grinch
Head to the Grinch's lair for a final showdown. Find out why he stole the Christmas presents and bring them back to bring cheer back to CrystalPeak Town.
Interact with the correct tile. It's not a big lair, you can run around to look for it easily (no need to click space).
Only available after winning vs the grinch in the previous step ofcourse.
Tip: the gifts are not invisible
Return X-Mas Presents to Santa
Bring the X-Mas Presents back to Santa to help restore the Christmas spirit in CrystalPeak Town.
Christmass 2024 is the 2nd seasonal event to use a special method of getting the forms.
Before, the forms were just added to a route & the odds of finding the form were the rarity of the form divided by the amount of that rarity were on that map;
Example: Rare Toucannon-H had the same rarity as other rare pokemon & his spawn was on a map with 1 other Rare pokemon.
=> Rare rarity then 50/50 if it's toucannon-h or other rare pokemon.
Now the forms are a chance on the encounter.
Example: Ultra Rare Weavile has a set chance of being Weavile-C.
In theory this makes the forms more exclusive, which was something we got as feedback from previous events, that the forms aren't exclusive enough.
We did get a lot of feedback that it was too low odds during Halloween. Therefore we did make some changes/add less forms (per day in event).
The same goes for all the chest pokemon, albeit chances are different (higher) for chests compared to wild spawns.
Blaze Radars stop you from running/fainting Rare or up Christmas Forms.
Odds
After feedback from Halloween event, the odds were tweaked a little bit which should make it more enjoyable to look for them.
The current odds for wild spawns are:
Common form: 1/750
Uncommon form: 1/80
Rare form: 1/40
Very Rare form: 1/10*
Ultra Rare form: 1/5*
Legendary form: 1/2
*on Halloween 1/15 & 1/10, halving rarity for ultra rares & making very rares 1/3rd easier to find.
Improving odds
We have 2 things that improve the odds.
The first is Event Charm. This item is available in the gem shop & boosts the form odds with 25% for everyone on the server, for 1 hour.
The second is a new feature called Community Goals. This is visible in-game in the top right UI as follows:
So after there were 500K faints server wide, the odds of finding event forms is increased with 40% for an hour.
NOTE: Both these things only influence pokemon that aren't 100% in their form spawned. Pokémon that spawn as their form visible in-game, are not affected by this.
These are pokemon only available during Halloween up to this point.
